October 17th, 2025 Jubilee Trip to the National Basilica in Washington, DC.

On October 17th, parishioners from Visitation Parish, as well as parishioners from all over the Johnstown area and beyond, boarded three charter buses and made their pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C. They spent the day exploring, reflecting and praying as they made their way through the Shrine and attended a mass at 2:00 PM lead by our diocese’s own Bishop Mark Bartchak as the principal celebrant. Some of our parishioners partook in the mass itself, those individuals being Kristyn Amendola as an altar server, Evelyn Haggerty and Patti Price as gift bearers, and Catherine Bennett, Kathleen Bumbernick and Andrea Nosko as part of the choir. We are very proud of them and hope that those who attended, had thoroughly enjoyed their day!

Pilgrimage to Washington, DC

Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception – October 17, 2025.

Important Notice:  We are taking reservations for the Buses traveling to Washington DC for the Jubilee 2025 Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shine of the Immaculate Conception. The cost of the Bus is $50.00 per person and includes the tip for the bus driver.  The bus will depart at EXACTLY 6:30 AM from the HOME DEPOT parking lot, Galleria Extension Drive in Johnstown. Payment is due no later than September 15th, 2025.

WE CURRENTLY HAVE ONE BUS LEFT TO FILL!

Reservations will be taken on a first come first serve basis.  To reserve a seat (s) and make payment to Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, please call Catherine Bennett, Secretary at 814-536-6110, x1., Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.

You are advised to CARPOOL to the HOME DEPOT because of limited parking.

More information and an itinerary for the day will be distributed closer to the event.

Please call as soon as possible because seats will fill up fast and these are the only buses reserved for the Johnstown area.      

Schedule of Events for the Pilgrimage

The following schedule will be followed by all guests traveling via bus: 
  •  11:00 AM-Diocesan Arrival at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception
  • 11:30 AM-Welcome from Monsignor Vito Buonanno and Bishop Mark in Upper Church
  • 12:00 PM-Lunch
  • 12:30 PM-Confessions in Upper Church Chapels with Our Diocesan Priests
  • 1:00 PM-Liturgy and Music Rehearsal
  • 2:00 PM-Mass in the Upper Church with Bishop Mark as Celebrant and Homilist
  • 4:00 PM-Departure

All visitors are welcome to participate in self-guided tours of the Basilica throughout the afternoon 

                     

COUNCIL MEETINGS

Monday, August 25th, 2025: Finance council meeting

IMPORTANT REMINDER  – PARISH FINANCE COUNCIL MEETING: There will be  a meeting of the Parish Finance Council on Monday August 25th at 6:00 PM in the Elizabethan Suite.  All members should make every effort to attend.                               

Saturday, June 1st following 4 PM mass

Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

This year, we will celebrate our feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Saturday, June 1st after the 4 PM mass (the day after our actual feast day on May 31st) with a free and festive celebration in the cafeteria of the school. This will include a simple dinner with entrees and a side dish (starch) provided by the parish. It would be helpful if some of you would come forward to make a few side dishes; however, you are not required to provide anything. Please make every effort to participate with your fellow parishioners. As I have said over and over again, Christ is community, and we should be an active part of it. We would like to see as many parishioners as possible as a sign-up support for our parish mission and our pastor. A sing-up sheet is available in the main vestibule. You may sign up until Sunday May 26th. Thank you for prayerfully considering to participate.
